The Camellia are slow growing flowering plants native to eastern and southern Asia. They are evergreen shrubs and small trees. Some have five to nine petals, others have many. Color varies from white,pink, red, yellow and orange. Plants generally like and adapt well to acidic soil, and thrive in high rainfall areas. Many Butterflies & moths feed on them.Camellias are grown as ornamental plants for their flowers. There are as many as 3000 different hybrid types.
